Tokyo :)

Yo yo yo krustiiwriggles in da house! We are going to talk about...
Tokyo-the capital and largest city in Japan and is on the island of Honshu. It became the imperial capital in 1868. Tokyo is home to many gadget and gaming companies such as Nintendo and is the source of many anime and manga publishers. The stereotypical image of Tokyo is that of many tall, well lit buildings and busy, car filled roads and streets- but (although alot is like that) there are lots of green and historical places and areas all over! Have a good week Krustiiwriggles :)

Tatami :)

Hello krustiiwriggles here, again.. (*shock horror gasp*) Tatami is a straw matting used as floor. Tatami is found in many traditional Japanese houses and it is very comfortable to walk on. Sorry this one wasnt very long... :/ We suppose it doesn't really matter... :) bye bye from krustiiwriggles

Noh :)

Hi! Noh is the traditional drama of Japan. It involves music and dance performed in a very stylized way. The performers are elaborately dressed and the stage is almost bare; with just a few props :O ! This is different to England as we don't have specifically 'traditional' theatre, and we perform on a scene and prop covered stage. See you later- :) Krustiiwriggles

Kendo and Haiku

HI :3

And now... Kendo. Kendo is the Japanese martial art of fencing with bamboo swords. The oldest form of the martial arts.

Now... Haiku... A Japanese lyrical verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect ofnature or the seasons... speaking of which we have been doing about the seasons in our club recently... the seasons are called Fuyu- winter Haru- spring, Natsu- summer and Aki-autumn. The seasons are very distinct in Japan.

Islands of Japan

Yello, how be you?
Today: islands (as the title subtly hints)! Japan is made up of thousands of little islands. There are four main ones though. The biggest of these is called Honshu and is the central part of the country between the sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The smallest is Shikoku. At last official count there were precisley 6852 islands in Japan!!!

Origami ! :)

Hi! >> going back to rie fu- she writes in Japanese and English... also she sung the first credit song for bleach-- (life is like a boat) - SEARCH IT ON YOUTUBE! -- please... OK anyway... today we are looking at ORIGAMI! As you probably know, this is all about folding pieces of paper... well yes, you make art with them, and it is a very traditional and popular past time in Japan. People make lots of different things, like animals, flowers and birds... one of the most famous and traditional shapes made out of origami is that of a crane (its a type of bird)- You will see alot of cranes around Japan. -Because they are believed to be 'lucky' - apparently (according to Japanese mythology) they can live to up to 1000 years! :) krustiiwrigles, has left the building!

Rie Fu

Hiya! :) Now, to liven up your ipod, we just want you to listen to Rie Fu- we love her music, shes amazing, thanks :DKrustii Wriggles

Japenese flag :)

Hi, just to say that the Japenese flag represents the sun... they say there that Japan is the 'Land of the rising sun' as they are the most eastern country on the world map! :) krustiiwrigles x

Hiroshima !

Hi, me and amelia are going to talk to you about the city Hiroshima... A city in southwest Honshu, Japan. People noramlly know Hiroshima because of the bomb that it had to endure, (this was the first automic bomb used in warfare (August 6 1945)
! But really Hiroshima is a beautiful city with lots of things to see and because of the destruction caused by the bomb they rebuilt the whole city so it is all very modern.
The weather there is varied, sometimes ranging from around 9 degrees C - 32!
Hiroshima has its own symphony orchestra! Also there are many museums in Hiroshima... Thank you very much :)
See you later- from

Culture day

Hiya, this is Josie the newest member to the team we call krustii wriggles, this is my first post I've ever written so bare with me.

Today has been a momentous occasion, our Japanese club went on its first ever outing. We went to a Japanese culture day at the Japanese college near our school. You may be thinking 'but where are our bestest ever blog writers Amelia and Christie' Note added by Amelia at a later date : yeah we know!!! , well they were being busy while I went to the college. Well poor you because you didn't get to play with awesome Japanese toys or try awesome Japanese food or look at awesome Japanese fashion magazines.

Anyway I guess I should explain the culture day now, so back to that.

Firstly we looked at a section called Japanese films, I learnt that the largest creator of animated Japanese films are a company called Studio Ghibli.(Some of their movies are shown to the left). Then we tried some Sushi, unfortunately I am a vegetarian so I did not get to try the glory of raw fish, however I did try soya sushi which was delicious, it is made with sticky rice stuffed in a soya pouch. Some other sushi is displayed above. Finally we sat down to watch a traditional Japanese dance which involves some very high pitch shouting!
Hopefully we shall have some pictures of the event to show you soon
But for now Sayonara from your favourite blogger Krustii wriggles.

Japanese houses

Hi !!! And now...... Japanese houses. It may seem like a yawn-worthy topic but, no, you are wrong, very wrong. In Japan, houses are very different . In apartments you usually have one room (not including the bathroom [that we will discuss later]). In this one room their are mats that you do everything on (other than sleep). The bed is a soft mat that can be rolled up into the wall , this means that lots of space is saved. In addition they stand outside and douse themselves in water with a ladle- washing off any dirt before having a soak in the bath (which , like the roll up bed, is very logical). Also we just thought we'd mention foutons, they are a thin matress of tufted cotton batting or a similar material, put on top of a raised (folderbul) frame- and sometimes on the floor! -- These arent so comfy, but what they lack in comfort they make up for in physiotherapy! - they are very good for your back postier! :)

See you soon

this is Krustii Wriggles signing off :D

p.s. The pictures are of some GREAT Japanese architecture (imagine living in one of these)!!!

SuMo

Hello, (again) how are you? Today- Sumo Japans cultural sport. Sumo is very unique to Japan as it is where it originated and is the only place in the world where it is practised professionally. Sumo is a competitive contact sport. The aim is to force your opponent out of the ring or get them to touch the ground with anything other than the souls of their feet.

Sayonara ( good bye)

p.s. Welcome a new member to our team Josii (also part of Kings' School Japanese Club)

Mount Fuji is alive with the sound of music:)

Hello, its Monday (again) but here we are to turn your frown upside down :D

Today's subject: Japanese music....

Here is a link to Japans single chart as we speak: http://allcharts.org/music/japan/singles.htm

NOTE: 3 of the top ten songs in Japan are also very popular in England. Also here is 2 links to videos of the No 1 single in Japan right now (it is beautiful) *drag the first one to 1:59 and the second to 1:20 to hear the song if you dont have enough time to watch the rest : http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/music/watch/v198243708YDQ6kTw# and http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/music/watch/v198243708YDQ6kTw#

Finally a picture of Japanese calligraphy (top right) which is probably even more beautiful than their No1 song, because we will be doing a blog about it soon...

Krustii Wriggles

P.S. If you think you dont have the time to listen to this divine song ( then MAKE THE TIME because we watched and very nearly became hypnotised
